BE IN YOUR OWN BAND!
Be In Your Own Band Staff (345-5224)
beinyourownband.com
Learn how to play with other musicians in a band setting! We'll cover song structure, rehearsal and performance skills in addition to some reading, songwriting, and music theory. A list of cover songs selected from the student suggestions is chosen in the first few weeks of each session. We then learn to play the song from music charts (staff and tablature) provided by the instructor, with every student required to learn and perform at least 3 songs (more are strongly encouraged!) Original compositions are also explored. A live performance open to families and friends wraps up the session. Class is open to bass, guitar, drum, keyboard and vocal students (other instruments may be accommodated with instuctor's approval). Some experience is REQUIRED. Guitar and bass players should be able to tune their instruments and find notes on the neck. Drummers must be able to play a basic consistent beat. Keyboard players must know the names of chords and notes on their instruments if they cannot read music. Students who play more than one instrument or wish to experiment with other instruments are generally encouraged to do so. Please specify your primary instrument when registering. Class is limited, so sign up early! Drum kit and amplification for guitar, bass and amplification are provided, in addition to PA system for keys and vocals. Students must provide their own instrument, cable, tuner and sticks as applicable. Contact Robin with questions.
