BONE BUILDER

Halt bone loss and restore bone mass! The exercises in this class will help strengthen muscles and improve flexibility, using free weights and exercise bands. Most exercises will be done in a seated position. Special focus is on osteoporosis reversal, prevention, and functional fitness. A one-time materials fee of $18 is payable at the first class, unless you have your own elastic band. Participants must sign a Liability Release & Medical Treatment Agreement each session. New Students: please come to the first class 15 minutes early to complete the paperwork and have a brief orientation.
Sherri is a graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical Centers School of Physical Therapy. SShe is the Director of Pilates-Based Programs for Western Athletic Clubs at Courtside Club in Los Gatos, CA, and has developed programs for the San Jose Sharks Professional Hockey Team, nationally ranked pairs and singles figure skaters, and Elite-level gymnasts in their rehabilitation and in development of their Pilates-based training programs. She has developed Women's and Corporate Wellness Programs for ergonomics, exercise, osteoporosis, nutrition, use of herbs, menopause education, hormone replacement therapy, cancer prevention, and stress reduction. She has developed an advanced program in Osteoporosis Management for Polestar Education. Her extensive research on the treatment and prevention of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis led to the development of "The Osteoporosis Exercise Book: Building Better Bones," "The Pilates for Osteoporosis Exercise Video" and new videos, "Prenatal Pilates and Dealing with Acute Low Back Pain."

Get ready to obtain the benefits of an exercise program while learning the proper techniques in weight training. Your core muscles are engaged during each exercise. Trenise is nationally certified with the IFA (International Fitness Association), and was employed by a Nationwide Fitness Studio before starting her own personal training business. She has continued college studies in the areas of anatomy, medical terminology, and nutrition. Working as an exercise aide for a physical therapist has allowed Trenise to acquire hands-on knowledge about injury prevention, rehabilitation and endurance training.

PILATES MAT WORKOUT

Pilates Mat works on developing core strength, flexibility and coordination in a series of exercises mostly done sitting or lying on a mat. Aimee is a certified Pilates instructor and an Iyengar yoga teacher who loves teaching both types of classes.

PILATES PLUS STRETCHING: BEGINNER CLASS

INDOOR VOLLEYBALL: INTERMEDIATE

A class for players who have previous training. We will work on all volleyball skills. Participants should be familiar with basic offensive and defensive systems of play. A $2 materials fee is payable at the first class. Mark is a former coach of the UCSC men's volleyball team who has coached Junior High and High School volleyball players for 15 years. He is currently the director of the Aptos Youth Volleyball League and the Surf City Volleyball Club.

VOLLEYBALL: ADVANCED

Improve upon intermediate skills and learn more advanced systems of play. Intermediate and advanced students (this class is not designed for inexperienced or beginner players) will participate in new and challenging situations, including conditioning, rules and competitive play. Phil is a former rated volleyball player with Master's Degree in P.E. and Sports Psychology and 25 years teaching and coaching experience. He is certified CAP Level II by the US Volleyball Association and has been head coach of the Cabrillo and UCSC volleyball programs for several seasons. He has also been named Pacific Coast and Northern California Coach of the Year. A $2 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
