The City of Capitola is currently accepting applications for Camp Capitola staff for Summer 2013. Applications, with copies of required certifications, should be submitted to the Capitola Recreation office at 4400 Jade Street, Capitola, as soon as possible. Applicants must have participated for at least 2 years in a Junior Lifeguard program.
UPDATE 3/25/13: All Junior Guard instructors must be certified beach lifeguards or must attend a weekend beach lifeguard training course offered through the Marine Safety Division of the Santa Cruz City Fire Department on June 8-9 on Capitola Beach. We are requiring all Junior Guard instructors to attend the training this year, as the Marine Safety Division staff will review their specific procedures and will include Pit Crew Resuscitation in the training.
All applicants are required to have current C.P.R./A.E.D. for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) Certification (First Responder training also fulfills the requirement).
UPDATE 4/25/13: If you are a returning Junior Lifeguard Instructor or looking to become an intructor, Cabrillo is offering a Title 22 class May 11-12 from 8:30am - 5:30pm. The cost is $100, and to register you can either click this link HERE or by phone at 479-6468. You can direct any questions you have to the number listed, or to firstname.lastname@example.org. Title 22 is required for all returning staff and job applicants.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid California driver's license, and pass a physical testing. All applicants must be fingerprinted.
