Sports Facility Rentals

Kurt Edwards, the City of Capitola Sports Coordinator, handles rentals for the following facilities:

  • The Capitola Gymnasium at New Brighton Middle School
  • Monterey Park
  • Jade Street Softball field
  • Jade Street Soccer field

    Sports Facilities Use Categories

    All groups using city or school facilities must provide a certificate of insurance naming the City of Capitola, the Soquel Elementary School District, and the Capitola Recreation Department as additionally insured. Fees are charged as follows:

    Category 1: No Charge

    Category 2: Administrative Fee Only
    • Non-profit youth-oriented organizations. The group must show proof of their status and the activity being conducted must not be for fund-raising purposes.
    • Currently registered Capitola Recreation sports league teams (using the fields or gymnasium).
    Category 3: Direct Costs Charges (per Civic Center Act; during regular custodial hours)
    • Non-profit groups who do not qualify under Category 2; the activity being conducted must not be for fund-raising purposes.
    • Groups which are community-oriented or civic in nature, holding an event which is open to the general public and is advertised as such, and for which there is no charge or solicitation for contributions or donations.
    Category 4: Fair Rental Value (per Civic Center Act; during regular custodial hours)
    • Events or meetings at which admission fees are charged, contributions are solicited and net receipts do not benefit the pupils of the Soquel Elementary School District.
    • Commercial or Private Groups.
