Sports Scorekeeper
The Capitola Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Sports Scorekeeper. The position is part-time, temporary and seasonal.
DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, will serve as Sports Scorekeeper for various adult sports leagues and programs. The scorekeeper will maintain the official scorebook and/or clock for adult and youth games, as well as supervise the facility/site during game play. He or she will record and report official scores at sporting event competitions, including Softball, Basketball, Futsal, and Soccer. The position includes set-up and breakdown of needed facility equipment for games, and field preparation for softball leagues (when applicable). The scorekeeper is the site attendant and will report scores, injuries, incidents, misconduct situations, protests, and other game comments to Sports Coordinator. He or she will work with the officials to maintain a safe field/court environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid California driver’s license. All applicants must be fingerprinted.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as sports scorekeeper desired. Training available. Experience with various sports activities, softball, basketball, futsal, and soccer. Ability to follow the sports program guidelines and perform to standard; understand and carry out oral and written directions; communicate effectively with sports program participants, community members and other staff; be versatile, flexible, friendly, and cooperative. Ability to independently initiate and complete work activities. Dependable transportation desirable.
SALARY/WORK SCHEDULE
Gym Site location at New Brighton Middle School. Field Site locations at Jade Street Park and Monterey Park. Pay range is $9.81-$11.94 per hour. Days and time may vary depending on season and availability.
